In a first for Nelson Mandela Bay, Baywest Mall is transforming into a rugby fanatic’s dream destination – a massive mall-wide fan park which will include cheerleading demonstrations, a R100,000 giveaway, an exclusive VIP viewing lounge, and live matches screened on the biggest TV screen in the province.
So unique are plans for the Baywest Mall Rugby World Cup Fan Park that beverage giant Coca-Cola has signed on as the title sponsor.
Adding to the fanfare will be emcee and former EP rugby ace Basil de Koning who, along with some Kings players, will form a panel to dissect the play of key clashes for fans post-match.
“This is an exciting first for the Bay,” said Baywest Mall marketing manager Samantha Hewitson. “We wanted to reproduce the spirit of the World Cup and bring people together to get behind their favourite teams, and that will all be possible here at Baywest.”
The fan park would run for the duration of the World Cup, with exciting events at the mall to entertain both children and adults alike.
“For the duration of the Rugby World Cup Season (18 September to 31 October) Baywest Mall will be transformed into a Rugby World Cup Fan Park offering shoppers and tenants an exciting venue from which to catch all the World Cup action on Baywest Mall’s big screen,” said Hewitson.
World Cup themed activities would be taking place throughout the mall.
“At the same time, friends and families can get involved with fun activations surrounding the Fan Park and stand a chance to win hundreds of prizes from our tenants and sponsors, as well as a big grand prize of R100 000 to spend at Baywest Mall!”
The main competition which launches on September 18 and will offer shoppers a chance to win R100,000 to spend at Baywest Mall with each minimum purchase of R100. Entries are unlimited, said Hewitson.
Also part of the fan park will be cheerleading demonstrations, a “kids’ zone” with a clown, face painting and visits from the Baywest World Cup mascot, the Baywest Bokkie, and give-aways connected to the new Baywest Mall mobile app.
