Rugby fans in Port Elizabeth will get the chance to see their Springbok heroes live in action on the big screen on Thursday when they play against Namibia in the Rugby World Cup in New Zealand.
Dubbed as the home of rugby and the commercial capital of the Eastern Cape, Motherwell in Port Elizabeth is one of the selected locations where the SARU Township TV will show the action live from New Zealand.
Township TV aims to provide South African townships with a unique form of entertainment in a safe and secure environment, free of charge. In order to enhance the memorable viewership experience and maximise community interaction, SARU will be doing some exciting activations. These will include, amongst other things, TAG Rugby coaching clinics for local kids and fantastic prizes for fans.
On Thursday 22 September, Khetshe Street, NU3 Motherwell will be the place to see the Springboks teaching Namibia how to play rugby.
“I call on iBhayi fans to come in their numbers to show their support for the boys and to support an initiative that is also aimed at growing the Game,” said Khaya Mayedwa, SARU Community and Public Relations Manager.
Bokkie, the famous SARU mascot will be present and fans are urged to wear their green and gold. The gates will open at 08h00 before the big kick off at 10h00.
